POPPY SEEDS

Poppy seeds are the seeds of the flower of poppy plant. It has been used as a traditional remedy for centuries. It is native to the Eastern Mediterranean. The seeds can be black or light grey color. Poppy seeds are used in baked goods and traditional dishes worldwide. Both the seeds and their oil are offering various health benefits. It is used for treating headaches and coughs to curing asthma and insomnia.

RICH IN NUTRIENTS AND ANTIOXIDANTS
    Poppy seeds are rich in fiber, plant fats, protein, Manganese, Copper, Calcium, Zinc and Iron. Poppy seeds are rich in manganese, which is important for bone health and blood clotting. The copper in poppy seeds helps for connective tissues and transport ion.

    The seeds can be cold pressed to produce poppy seed oil which is rich omega -6 and omega 9 fatty acids, hence it lowers the risk of  heart disease.

    The poppy plant contain morphine, codeine and opium alkaloids known for  their pain relieving, calming and sleep inducing properties.
