WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK (1-7) AUGUST 2022 World Breast feeding week is celebrated every year from 1 to 7 August to encourage breast feeding and improve the health of children around the world. The theme for 2022 is " STEP UP FOR BREAST FEEDING EDUCATE AND SUPPORT" According to UNICEF, a baby should be breastfed within an hour of birth and this should continue for the first six months of the child’s life. Breastfeeding plays an important role in managing the burden of malnutrition. Breastfeeding provides food security and reduces inequality in society. World Breastfeeding Week aims to highlight the huge benefits that breastfeeding can bring to the health and welfare of babies and benefits to maternal health , focusing on good nutrition, poverty reduction, and food security.
